Iran pulls out of parts of the nuclear deal

Iran pulls out from the landmark nuclear deal it signed with the United States and five other nations in 2015. Iranian Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) in a statement announced that Iran has stopped some of its commitments under the JCPOA as of May 8, 2019.

Over the past year and after US illegal withdrawal from Iran nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and its breach of the UN Security Council Resolution 2231, the Islamic Republic of Iran has shown most of its self-restraint and has given considerable opportunity on requests made by other parties to JCPOA, the statement reads.

Iran in line with preserving security and national interests of Iranians and on the basis of its rights mentioned in articles 26 and 36 of the JCPOA will stop some of its commitments as of Wednesday, It added.

President Hassan Rouhani on Wednesday appeared on TV to declare Iranian reciprocal action to US over breach of Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action by scale-down of Iran's commitments envisaged by Note 26 of the nuclear deal.
