5 Reasons Of Losing Hairs And 5 Ways To Prevent It

Losing Hairs
It’s not only you and your friend. According to a new research, Chinese people in their 20s are losing their hair sooner than any other generation before them.

The research was conducted on 4,000 students from Tsinghua University out of which 60 percent reported that they were losing a significant amount of hair.Dermatologists say both women and men as young as 18 are seeking help in combating hair loss. Thinner hair and receding hairlines are also a complain coming from many. Though it’s normal for someone to shed between 50 to 100 hair strands every day.

But the question is, why is it happening? Why are people in their 20s going bald? Here we bring you five possible reasons why millennials are losing hair earlier and what they can do to prevent it.

1: Stress

Your hair grows, then stops growing and then finally falls out. This is called growth life cycle of hair. Stress can affect the growth life cycle of your hair.

The hair grows, then follicle shrinks slightly followed by hair remaining stable and then, finally falling out, all this being a continuous process.Stress can interrupt hair growth by moving hair out of the growth phase prematurely, which can cause hair fall at large. Studies conducted on animals, like mice and monkeys, indicated that animals who had higher cortisol levels (stress hormone) reported more hair loss.

There is a connection between stress and age. Millennials reported higher levels of stress than any older generations.

2: Hair Maintenance:

According to doctors, hair maintenance may also be contributing to hair loss. Dying and bleaching hair excessively can damage them severely.the weight of hair extensions can also weaken hair follicles which ultimately can lead to more hair loss.

3: Diet and Nutrition

Believe it or not, diet plays a major role in influencing your hair health. The growing popularity of vegan and vegetarian diets are also contributing to hair loss among millennials.A research conducted by Bayor College of Medicine in Texas reported that deficiency of protein, zinc and vitamin D can affect hair growth negatively.

4: Toxins

Toxins appear to be present everywhere these days. One of the most common sources of toxins is pollution. Hair follicles are severely affected by pollution, which leads to hair breakage and thinning. In fact, one study showed people living in cities reported more hair loss due to the presence of smoke, lead, nickel and sulfur dioxide in the air.

According to Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, toxins in cigarettes have a huge impact on your skin, nails, teeth and even hair. For healthier hair, it’s important to eliminate this habit right away.

5: Other Reasons:

Hormonal changes, thyroid and autoimmune diseases are also among the other common causes of hair loss among young women and men.

6: HOW TO MANAGE HAIR LOSS

The first and most obvious step is to consult a dermatologist and get yourself tested to know the underlying cause.Lab tests may be helpful in identifying the deficiencies which in turn can help you to know what to eat and what to quit. Some natural ways by which you can prevent it are:

– Washing your hair 2-3 times in a week.
